Detroit's Kolon to Run Summer Skills Clinic

The Summer Small Area Skills Development Clinic is run by University of Detroit Mercy Head Coach Chris Kolon.  The curriculum will be a mix of stick skill development, shooting development and free personal development.  The teaching philosophy is based on getting the maximum number of reps and touches possible during the session.  The grouping will be done by grade (5/6, 7/8 and High School).  Each group will be limited to 14 students.  The students will work in 2 groups of 7 to maximize their touches and reps.

This clinic will be run by Coach Kolon with staff help.  This isn’t a coach putting his name on a clinic and then showing up, waving to people and leaving.  This is a high intensity skills camp that will push your child to develop stick skills and shooting skills.  Your child must be open to learning and feedback and developing proper technique.  If you son thinks toe drags and sidearm shooting are the way to go, then this clinic is NOT for him.  If your son doesn’t want to develop their offhand, this clinic is NOT for him.  And there will be NO scholarships handed out at this clinic.

Stick work is the difference between being the best player you can be and just being a player on the team.  There are no shortcuts or magic tricks to developing good stick skills.  If your child wants to play in high school and beyond, top level stick skills are crucial.
